Samsung just announced its flagship Android tablets for 2024… but to my dismay, there is no Galaxy Tab S10.
And what I mean by that is that there is no regular model. Samsung has decided to drastically change the layout of its Galaxy Tab series.
After offering three models (regular, plus and Ultra) for two generations, the Korean tech giant has decided to ditch the smallest and cheapest member of the family. Just like that.
Over the years, Samsung has expanded the Galaxy Tab options, but for 2024 there is only a Galaxy Tab S10+ and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra.
I did a double take when I read the press materials leading up to this announcement, but it wasn’t a mistake.
After questioning Samsung about this, the company told Tech Advisor: “Right, only Tab S10 Ultra and Tab S10+.”
Since we don’t want to explain why, we’re left speculating as to why the range was reduced from three to two.
I imagine it’s mostly down to the sales performance of the past two generations, with the Galaxy Tab S8 and Galaxy Tab S9 being the least popular in the lineup.
However, that seems strange considering these are the most affordable options, with the Plus and Ultra models being more expensive than many laptops on the market. But perhaps the mainstream and most affordable iPad is simply too difficult to compete with in the world of tablets.
Whatever the reason, you’ll have to choose between the Galaxy Tab S10+ and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra this year, and you can read more about those two new slates here.
The Galaxy Tab S9 will no doubt remain on sale from Samsung and other retailers if you want to buy it instead.
