OJ Simpson has a lot of debts to pay from beyond the grave – so many, the executor of his estate says he’s taking off the kid gloves to scrape together some cash as quickly as possible!
Malcolm LaVergnewho has gone from OJ’s longtime lawyer to now running his estate after he died last April, tells TMZ … he’s trying to raise more than $269,000 from one of OJ’s houses, and might have to go through Simpson’s son , Justinto get it.
Malcolm says that Justin – whose mother was Nicole Brown Simpson — helped his father buy his “forever” home in Las Vegas a few years ago, and now the estate wants to recoup the money OJ put into the house, which LaVergne pegs at about $159,000.
Additionally, he says the home is now worth more than $100,000 more than when it was purchased in 2022. So LaVergne’s position is that both the equity and the amount OJ put into the house belong to OJ’s estate.
We reached out to Justin for his thoughts on his dad’s house, but haven’t heard back from him yet.
Of course, the $269,000 is just a drop in the bucket when it comes to the estate’s creditors… there’s still the $33.5 million judgment OJ owed his victims’ families after the lawsuit for wrongful death in 1997.
OJ was acquitted in his murder case, but was later found liable for the deaths of Nicole and Ron Goudman in a civil court in Santa Monica… and although the judgment was originally for $33.5 million, the interest on the unpaid debt is reportedly rose to approximately $100 million.
Furthermore, OJ’s legacy was recent hit with a $500,000 tax lien from the state of California.
LaVergne says OJ’s estate is virtually worthless at this point, so he is examining every rock to find all sources of income to fund the estate and pay back creditors such as the IRS, the California Tax Board and the Goldmans.
The point is… LaVergne says he’s disappointed to see strong resistance to his efforts to collect and liquidate OJ’s assets, but he plans to crack down on everyone, including OJ’s family.
One of Simpson’s crown jewels he’s trying to get his hands on is his Pro Football Hall of Fame ring, which he says has been missing since Simpson died… along with a nice Rolex of his.
He’s clearly annoyed that it’s MIA and tells us, “It belongs to the estate and I want it laid at my feet.”
In addition to the house and the ring, Malcolm is also looking permission to sell some of OJ’s assets at auction to raise money for the estate.
