Olympic boxer Imane Khelif has had it HERE with bullying related to her gender, and her lawyer is now ready to kick ass.
Her lawyer has filed a complaint with Paris prosecutors, claiming the Algerian boxer is the victim of serious cyber harassment. The lawyer calls the attacks ‘misogynistic, racist and sexist’.
The Algerian athlete took home the gold in the women’s welterweight division Friday … after facing controversy earlier in the competition when questions about her gender arose online.
The gold medalist faced a lot of backlash over an alleged failed gender test conducted at the 2023 International Boxing Association match. The International Olympic Committee begged to differ, saying Khelif met all standards to compete.
The complaint does not specify perpetrators… although many people are, including celebrities Elon Musk and others have teased her online. The ball is now in prosecutors’ court as to whether an investigation should be opened.
The IOC has supported Imane and denounced the bullies.
If someone is ultimately charged, they could face up to five years in prison.
