The Paris Olympics kick off on Wednesday, July 24, with men’s football leading the way ahead of the opening ceremony. For the first time since 2008, the American men will participate in the tournament, but don’t expect to see that stars like Christian Pulisic gift. Led by Marko Mitrovic, the United States U-23s will be the team that will participate in this tournament, as is the case with the I side. With 18-man rosters, flexibility is key, but there are replacements if injuries occur.

The United States will be drawn into the same group as hosts France, as they face teams like Argentina and Spain if they want to reach the knockout stages. They will have to show fortitude. Led by Walker Zimmerman, Miles Robinson and Djordje Mihailovic as the senior players in the squad, younger players will have to look up to their example to beat teams that may be more talented on paper.
