One person was subsequently injured a stairwell and an outdoor balcony collapsed at an apartment complex near West 30th Avenue and Vallejo Street in Denver’s Highland neighborhood.
The Denver Fire Department responded to the building around 12:30 a.m. Monday after callers reported that a stairwell and an outdoor balcony had collapsed on a building where the upper floors were under construction, the agency said.
One construction worker was taken to a hospital in a personal vehicle and firefighters helped two families on lower floors evacuate safely. All residents are being transferred to hotels, the fire brigade said. The number of displaced people was not immediately available.
