OnePlus has been busy with many launch events in recent months, but the next one is just around the corner.
The company has confirmed a ‘Summer Launch Event’ on July 16 in Milan, promising a ‘statement piece that breaks convention’. The page on the official website doesn’t reveal much, but recent posts on X (formerly Twitter) all but confirm a new Nord phone.
Essentially, this just means that the phone is made from one piece of metal molded across the entire back and sides of the phone. This was common on early smartphones, such as HTC’s One series, which was phased out in 2016.
A physical invite to the event sent by OnePlus includes the following statement: “Some say that in the 5G era it is impossible to create a smartphone with the power, sophistication and lasting quality of metal. We say… never settle.”
The three benefits mentioned by the company could be major selling points for the Nord 4, especially since it is still expected to be a mid-range phone. As a reminder, the OnePlus Nord 3 was priced at £499/€499 at launch.
OnePlus hasn’t revealed anything concrete about the phone yet, although the note above indicates we’ll hear more on July 9.
However, a post from leaker Sanju Choudhary on X reveals many key specs, plus a two-tone rear design:
If true, it would mean that the Nord 4 is not the same phone as the Ace 3V, which launched in China in March.
Hopefully this will be revealed on July 9th. If not, you’ll have to wait until the July 16 launch, which we’ll cover here on Tech Advisor.
