GRACIE PERIOD
Streaming service, Biggest+ has ordered “Playing Gracie Darling”, a mystery drama series about the aftermath of a girl’s sudden disappearance. The six-part performance was created and written by Miranda Nation (“Undertow”), directed by Jonathan Brouw (“Rosehaven,” “The End”) and produced by Curio photos.
When Joni was 14, her best friend Gracie Darling disappeared during a séance. Some 27 years later, the local kids in a small town are getting their kicks with a game of ‘Playing Gracie Darling’, but the seemingly innocent game turns sinister when another girl disappears. Joni, now a child psychologist, returns to town and teams up with Police Sergeant Jay to uncover the truth, while Gracie’s sister Ruth faces a mother’s worst nightmare when her own daughter disappears under eerily similar circumstances.
Morgana O’Reilly (“The White Lotus” S3, “Friends Like Her”) stars Joni. Other cast includes Rudi Dharmalingam (“Wakefield,” “The Lazarus Project”) as Jay, and Celia Pacquola (“Rosehaven,” “Love Me”), Annie Maynard (“Upper Middle Bogan,” “Colin From Accounts”) and Anne Tenney (‘The Castle’, ‘A Rural Practice’).
The show is executive produced by Curio’s Jo Porter And Rachel Gardner, Sophia Mogford for Paramount+ and Nation. Laura Nagy is on board as associate producer and additional scripts are being written Anya Beyersdorf (“FAKE”). Sony Pictures Television distributes the series internationally.
It has major manufacturing investments from the federal agency Screen Australia. It is also funded and supported by a location attraction and financing agency Screen NSW through the Made in NSW Fund and support for postal, digital and visual effects.

Screen Australia has hired Louise Goog as the new director of narrative content. She was head of development at Screen Australia from 2021 to 2023 and will start in her new role from September 30. Gough will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer. Grainne Brunsdon. With a 30-year career spanning broadcast, production, funding agencies and theatrical environments, Gough recently served as executive producer of Samantha Strauss’ Picking Scabs, a collaboration with Seesaw movies.
CINEMA PARTIES
The Plywood Association of India and several cinema operators named Friday as third National Film Daya day full of promotional activities around the theater experience. One of the benefits is that ticket prices will be reduced to INR 99 ($ 1.18). Organizers say that around 4,000 cinemas will participate, including the chains PVR Inox, Cinepolis, Miraj, Citypride, Asian, Mukta A2, Movie Time, Wave, Moviemax, M2k and Delite.
