President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. assured on November 10, 2024 that the government would immediately reconstruct houses damaged by Typhoon Marce in Cagayan.
In his speech during the financial aid distribution in Buguey, Cagayan, President Marcos said he had engaged all relevant government agencies to ensure that all assistance is provided to those made homeless by Marce.
“Hindi kaya ng isang department gawin lahat. It may be that u namin, ginagawa po namin ay what we call the integrated government approach. Ibig sabihin, lahat ng iba’t ibang departure kahit papaano ay makakadala ng tulong at makakatulong para mabigyan ng relief, for mom-to rescue I think it’s a big challenge to do this relief,” President Marcos said.
“At ngayon, ngayon ditto sa Cagayan, ang dapat talaga natingnan ay ang reconstruction dahil ‘yung sa… public infrastructure, okay namannot so bad. Pero ‘yung mga private na tirahan, ‘yun na nga, nasira. It’s not like you’re a tutu tukan”, he added.
The president said the government will not abandon the victims until they fully recover from the effects of the typhoon. He said assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) would continue.
President Marcos handed over P10 million each to the municipalities of Aparri, Buguey, Sanchez-Mira, Santa Teresita, Baggao, Gattaran, Gonzaga and Santa Ana. The money was received by their respective local CEOs.
He also witnessed the distribution of aid from various government agencies: the DSWD, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) and the Department of Agriculture (DA). | PND
