The story of Birmingham’s gangsters is far from over. Thanks to Netflix, Peaky Blinders returns in a feature film that explores what happens next to Tommy Shelby and his feisty family.
The series, made by the BBC, was a huge hit and put Cillian Murphy, who starred as the leader of the Peaky Blinders gang, in the spotlight. Audiences immediately fell in love with the tough, cunning and stylishly garbed Tommy Shelby as he navigated the gangster underworld of post-World War I England.
Of course, Tommy wasn’t the only great character in the series. The grim world of Peaky Blinders was populated by many fascinating personalities, such as Aunt Polly (Helen McCrory), Arthur Shelby (Paul Anderson) and Alfie Solomon (Tom Hardy).
Interestingly, the show has reignited interest in 1920s fashion: the iconic gangster outfits, consisting of tailored suits, overcoats and flat caps, have captured the attention of fashion enthusiasts.
Considering all of the above, it’s no wonder Netflix decided to make a movie spin-off of the series. To recreate the atmosphere, famous names were hired to work on the film. The script for the Peaky Blinders film was written by the show’s creator Steven Knight, while Tom Harper was hired as director.

What is the plot of the Peaky Blinders movie?
The film will be a direct sequel to the series, but details about the plot are being kept under wraps for now.
The Peaky Blinders series ended in 2022 and the season 6 finale can be described as puzzling. After fighting an IRA battle and killing Michael, Tommy, suffering from a tumor in his lungs, decides to commit suicide. However, he is prevented from this step by the ghost of Ruby, his deceased daughter, thanks to whom Tommy realizes that the diagnosis given to him was false.
In the final scene of season 6, Tommy rides into the hills on a white horse, leaving his burning chariot behind, with the intention of starting a new life.
It is unclear whether the film will pick up the story immediately after the end of the series or if there will be a time jump. However, we will undoubtedly see Tommy return to the gangster life.
