The human-caused Pearl fire west of Fort Collins in Larimer County is 90% contained, fire officials said announced Saturday.
Saturday at 4 p.m., Larimer County officials has issued an “All Clear” for the wildfirelifting all remaining evacuation orders and allowing normal activity to resume in the area.
The Pearl fire — a wildfire that started Monday on private property in Larimer County — has burned 300 acres of land near Red Feather Lakes, fire officials said. That is almost the same size as 97 football fields combined.
The fire’s burning area has not increased since firefighters began containing the fire Thursday, fire officials said Saturday.
Containment does not mean the end of a wildfire, it is merely the status of a control line being completed around the fire that can stop the spread of the flames. A wildfire can continue to burn for days or weeks after it is fully contained.
Larimer County officials are still investigating what started the Pearl fire, but say it was human caused.
As rain and snow clear across northern Colorado Saturday afternoon — creating more favorable firefighting conditions — the Incident Management Team plans to reduce the number of resources allocated to the fire, according to a U.S. Forest Service news release.
