Police in Burbank say they have completed an investigation into an incident in which an LA city council member claimed they dumped a homeless man in his backyard… and police say they found no evidence of wrongdoing on their part.
Burbank PD just released a statement saying the man from the June incident was NOT homeless, like LA City Councilman Paul Krekorian claimed.
Instead, police say the man has been renting a room in a Sylmar home for years, and the man asked the officers for a ride from Burbank to North Hollywood… which is how he ended up on the street outside the office of Krekorian.
As we reported… surveillance footage of the incident appears to show this 2 police officers escort a man from the back of their patrol vehicle, and the man appears to be yelling and/or talking to himself before stepping onto the sidewalk.
The officers leave the man there, get back in their car and drive away… and Krekorian later accused the officers of dropping off a homeless man in his city so they wouldn’t have to deal with him in their jurisdiction .
Krekorian called for a full investigation and Burbank police now say their investigation is over and they did nothing wrong.
Police say they were cleared by an internal investigation… and they say the FBI reviewed the case and declined to take action against Burbank police.
Police say the man was never detained or in police custody, and officers let him out of the car as soon as he asked.
When this happened in June, our sources told us that police received a call to respond to a naked man on a couch, with the officers providing the man with clothing and a ride at his request.
We reached out to Krekorian…so far no word back.
