President Biden will continue to try to make it clear to American voters that he is the best candidate to defeat Donald Trump this fall, as the incumbent president has scheduled his next sit-down interview with NBC News host Lester Holt.
Holt will interview Biden in a one-on-one interview on Monday, July 15, in Austin, Texas. The full interview will air in its entirety during a primetime special on NBC that evening at 9:00 PM ET. The special will also stream on the NBC News Now digital platform at 9 p.m. ET.
In addition, portions of the interview earlier today will air on “NBC Nightly News” with Holt at 6:30 PM ET on July 15 and clips and coverage will be available on nbcnews.com. According to NBC News, the full interview and unedited transcript will also be available after the primetime special on the network’s website.
NBC News’ interview with Biden will air as the 2024 Republican National Convention also kicks off on July 15 from Milwaukee.
Last week, ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos conducted the first TV interview with Biden after Biden’s recent disastrous performance in the debate with Trump. Just days later, Stephanopoulos was caught on video saying of Biden, “I don’t think he can serve four more years.” The journalist expressed regret over the comment, saying in a statement on Tuesday: “Earlier today I responded to a question from a passerby. I shouldn’t have done that.”
During the July 5 debate, broadcast by CNN, Biden appeared weak and confused — while the campaign had hoped that would help ease concerns about his health and age. Biden’s poor performance against Trump has created momentum among some Democrats and donors calling for the president to withdraw from the 2024 election.
