'Prison Break' is on the charts after Netflix debut

“Prison Break” was the fifth most-streamed series from July 29 to August 4, when the series was added to Netflix, according to Nielsen. The drama, which ran on Fox from 2005 to 2017, was watched for 758 million minutes on both Netflix and Hulu, where it was previously available.

The week’s chart was led by ‘House of the Dragon’, which was streamed for 1.3 billion minutes. This marked the seventh consecutive week of breaking the one billion mark, a feat made even more impressive by the fact that the series also airs on HBO’s linear channel, where viewership does not count toward the chart.

Streaming was generally low during this viewing period; only “House of the Dragon” and “Bluey” (No. 2 with 1.2 billion minutes watched) crossed the billion-minute mark, while seven titles reached that height in the first week of July. Nielsen notes that the Olympics have drawn viewers away from shows and films that might otherwise have performed better. Additionally, this was the first time since the inception of the Nielsen Streaming Top 10 in 2020 that there were no streaming originals on the chart, only acquired series plus one acquired film (“Jack Reacher: Never Go Back,” which reached No. 10 ). with 697 million viewing minutes on Netflix and Paramount+.)

The rest of the chart was populated by “Grey’s Anatomy” (933 million minutes) and “Family Guy” (910 million minutes) at Nos. 2 and 3, and after “Prison Break” there was “Criminal Minds” (745 million minutes) . minutes), “Bob’s Burgers” (734 million minutes), “All American” (722 million minutes) and “NCIS” (707 million minutes) ahead of “Jack Reacher.”
