Like the drama from season 21 of The Bachelorette records, one contestant continues to rub the former star Rachel Recchia the wrong way.
‘I just wrote my first little note:’Thomas [Nguyen] And Devin [Strader] give me the creeps,” she said Ben Higgins as we recap the third episode of the season on tuesday, july 23, episode of the Podcast ‘Almost famous’. “I wasn’t a fan of either one last episode. But I think there’s something about Devin that really raises red flags for me, because he reminds me a lot of [my ex-fiancé] Tino [Franco] and this winning mentality and this: ‘That’s my wife.’ For example, this is week two.’
After participating in season 26 of The Bachelor with leading man Clayton EchardRachel, 28, played wide Gabby Windey as co-bachelorettes in the show’s 19th season in 2022. Although she ended up filming engaged to Tino, 30, they broke up when the show aired on ABC after he admitted to kissing a girl he met before he became a member. The Bachelorette.
Tino was a front-runner for Rachel early in her season when she gave him her first impression. Although Devin, 28, wasn’t earning Jen Tran‘s first impression rose, he continued to make a strong impression and scored a group date rose in episode 3.
However, Devin’s personality has rubbed many of his castmates the wrong way, especially when it comes to the amount of time he’s gotten to spend with Jenn, 26, so far. In Episode 2, Thomas N. confronted Devin for talking to Jenn first at the cocktail party, after he and other guys said they would give contestants who hadn’t had much time with Jenn a chance to talk to her.
Devin’s self-confidence is something Rachel told the podcast cohost Ben Higgins gave her “the same kind of vibe” as Tino. “I feel like this is really getting under the guys’ skin,” Rachel, who replaces Higgin’s regular cohost, Ashley Iaconetti – said Tuesday. “But I think I’m over both Thomas and Devin at this point.”
One thing Rachel and Ben, 35, agreed on is that Devin deserved props for standing up for Sam Nejad after receiving backlash from Thomas N. and Sam McKinney because he said he started falling in love with Jenn during a group date.
“I thought, ‘He really stood up for him.’ And he said, ‘You’re allowed to have those feelings.’ So that was a lot of fun for me,” Rachel said.
On the other hand, Devin’s personality clashes with the rest of the group, something Rachel says she wouldn’t want from a Bachelor party participant. ‘You can tell that the other boys don’t really like him. So that’s where it gives me pause, while, yeah, I feel like Thomas is definitely the problem and he was the problem in that argument, I look around at guys and why don’t they all like Devin? she said. “That says something to me. I want the man I end up with to get along with people.”
Both Rachel and Ben went on to predict that they think Jenn will eliminate Devin and Thomas N. around “halfway through the season,” allowing them to “secure their spot on the beach” for the upcoming tenth season of Bachelor in Paradise. (ABC renewed the spinoff series earlier this month and will air in 2025.)
Rachel appeared in season 9 of BiP last year. Following her casting announcement, Tino seemingly shaded his ex during an interview on the “After Reality” podcast, admitting that he would be more focused on cheering on his former Bachelorette contestants than Rachel.
“One thing, I think – whether you like her or not – you have to give her credit: there is no quit in her,” he said in August 2023. “I will watch, but focus on supporting the guys. .”
Rachel fired back at his comments the following month. “I just don’t understand, why can’t I continue?” she said on a September 2023 episode of “The Viall Files” podcast. “And why can’t I find love?” (She eventually left the BiP beach solo after forming connections with multiple cast members.)
The Bachelorette airs on ABC Mondays at 8pm ET.
