Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe will reportedly be out for 10 days with a thigh injury. according to ESPNand he could miss the team’s next two games.
The France international is certain to miss Saturday’s La Liga match in Rayo Vallecano but is doubtful for their match four days later, the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final. Real Madrid travel to Qatar for the competition, formerly known as the Club World Cup, and will face the winner of the match between Mexico’s Pachuca and Egypt’s Al Ahly.
Mbappe will reportedly not rush back for the Intercontinental Cup match as he believes it would be “counterproductive” if he is not ready to return at that time. He could be back for Real Madrid’s match against Sevilla on December 22, their last match of the calendar year.
He suffered the short-term injury during Real Madrid’s 3-2 win over Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, leaving the match in the first half with what was then an unspecified problem. He had already scored the opening goal of the match, only his second Champions League goal for his new club, although it took his tally to twelve in all competitions.
This is not the first injury Mbappe has suffered since joining the European champions, although it was another minor one. He missed September’s 1–1 draw against Atletico Madrid with a muscle injury, although he returned within a few days on that occasion.
