Crews from Boulder’s Department of Transportation and Mobility removed unofficial and explicit signs that mimicked speed limit signs in Boulder on Tuesday morning.
Crews found signs on 28th Street near Arapahoe Avenue, on Table Mesa Drive and South Broadway, on 28th Street and Jay Road, on 28th Street and Palo Parkway, and on 28th Street and the Diagonal Highway.
Some signs were explicit in their message, urging drivers to slow down and avoid distractions.
Messages like “Get off your damn phone,” “Slow down (expletive),” “Put the phone down (expletive),” “Don’t kill kids today” and “Slow down (expletive)” were displayed on the signs, according to police spokeswoman Dionne Waugh of Boulder.
Waugh said the department is investigating the posted signs as criminal tampering and is asking anyone with information to call the police non-emergency number at 303-441-3333 regarding case No. 24-12182.
