Regan Smith reflects on her Olympic campaign in Paris

2024 was an incredible year for Regan Smith. After several impressive versions on the domestic circuit, including a world record in the 100m backstroke, she went to the Paris Olympic Games. During the competitions she won silver medals in the 100m and 200m backstroke, as well as the 200m butterfly. She also ran away with gold medals in the 4x100m Medley and 4x100m mixed medley events.
Thinking about her Olympic campaign in Paris, Smith told Forbes,
“I think coming the Tokyo Olympic Games where there were no spectators on the deck, you couldn’t share any of your successful and festive moments with family or something like that, I think the Paris has made a really special experience.”
“I was really, really motivated to do really special things, because I knew that after every event I had the chance to enjoy those moments with my family members, my friends, my teammates and the world, because the stadium was also full, so special, so fun, but yes, absolutely not easy, competition in sport is never easy, but I am really good to do.”
After her Olympic campaign in Paris, Regan Smith was part of the World Course 2024 world championships. Here she won gold in the 50m backstroke, 100m backstroke, 200 meters backstroke and 4x100m Medley. She also won silver in the 200m butterfly and 4x100m mixed medley, as well as a bronze medal in the 4x50m mixed medley.
