Ric Flair has broken his silence on his stepson’s suicide.
RadarOnline.com can reveal that the WWE legend spoke out about the death of stepson Sebastian Kidder in a heartbreaking Instagram post.
Kidder died at the age of 24 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Saturday, October 26, at the family’s home in Georgia.
Flair, 75, spoke about his stepson’s death for the first time on social media on Sunday, October 27.
He endorsed the emotional Instagram post: “I spent hours wondering what to say. After hearing the news of Sebastian’s passing, I can only imagine what Wendy @thewonderouswendy and Paul are going through after losing a son around the same age in 2013 .
“I know the pain of your loss will stay with you for the rest of your life. I still think about Reid every day, just as you will continue to think about Sebastian.”
The WWE star opened up about his first-hand experience of losing a child. His son Reid, who had a promising wrestling career, died of a drug overdose in 2013.
Flair added: “You can’t blame yourself like I blamed myself for making Reid my best friend instead of being a good parent.
“Sometimes we get so close to our children that we forget that they need us in so many different ways.”
He continued: “I am so grateful for the time I had with Sebastian. I have so many great memories and bonding times with him growing up! He stood next to his mother, along with the whole family – Sophia, Paris, and Zomer, while I was dying.
“He was so selfless that he shared his mother with me while I was dying and also the passing of my son Reid. He was multi-talented and a huge success in everyone’s eyes and will always be remembered that way.
“I’m so sorry! Wendy, please stay strong and don’t let anything stop you from all the successful endeavors you’ve made in the future. God bless you both! Rest in peace Sebastian!”
Kidder’s mother, Wendy Barlow — who dated Flair for years before tying the knot in 2018 — confirmed his death to TMZ Sports.
She told the outlet: “I am devastated and shocked. This is an epidemic among you young men. And mental health…”
The circumstances surrounding the 24-year-old’s death are still unclear and an investigation is ongoing.
Prior to his death, Kidder’s music career continued to gain traction.
