Samsung has officially unveiled its Galaxy S25 range of flagship phones, but one expected model was missing: the S25 Slim.
As expected, the first major Unpacked launch event of the year revealed the S25 series, but the much-rumored Galaxy S25 Slim was a no-show.
This seems strange for a number of reasons. The first is that rumors in the smartphone world are usually not wrong. Secondly, Samsung’s teaser invite for Unpacked showed the corners of four handsets meeting each other, suggesting four models would be announced.
A revelation would have meant Samsung was off the starting blocks ahead of Apple, whose own sleek flagship – the iPhone 17 Air – is said to be arriving this year.
What is the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge?
Still, as we suspected, Samsung did a little “one more thing” teaser at the very end of the Unpacked event, just like it did a year ago with the Galaxy Ring.
So while it looked like only three S25 models were revealed, Samsung simply held back the fourth until we thought it was all over.
Instead, we got a brief glimpse, but no discussion, of the Galaxy S25 Edge. This could be the rebranded S25 Slim, although it only has two rear cameras compared to the rumored three.
It appears to have a similarly thin profile, but reviving the ‘Edge’ branding of old phones, including 2016’s Galaxy S7 Edge, is confusing as those models were notable for the curved screens on the sides.
Will Samsung still launch the Galaxy S25 Slim?
Just because the Galaxy S25 Slim didn’t appear on Unpacked doesn’t mean it will never happen.
As mentioned above, it appears that it has simply been named the Galaxy S25 Edge instead. It looks similar to the Slim leaks, even though Samsung only showed a very brief glimpse of it at the end of the presentation.
It’s clear that the S25 Edge is coming later, because Samsung didn’t even say a word about it on stage, but simply ended Unpacked with the short Edge video.
After all, the FE ‘fan edition’ models always arrive many months later, so this one might as well be good. We wouldn’t be too upset if it replaced the troubled FE range.

I think it’s possible that Samsung opted for the ‘Slim’ branding because it’s simply not slim enough compared to the other S25 models.
The S25 is only 7.2 mm in size, while the S25+ and S25 Ultra measure 7.3 mm and 8.2 mm respectively.
The S25 Slim (or perhaps now the S25 Edge) is rumored to be around 6.4mm in size, so is that really enough to justify the name?
Details in a Phone Arena exclusive could support the idea that the Slim could be the Edge. According to the article, the Slim may never arrive in the US, following news that it could be delayed until May. The article still lists 39 markets where it will launch, including the United Kingdom.
We will of course keep you informed if we hear more about the Galaxy S25 Edge.
