Dr. Gabriela Torabi (Sarah Shahi) does the best she can to prevent paradise from becoming hell on earth in this week of Hulu’s ‘Paradise’. But in her unofficial job as a mediator between Rogue Secret Service Agent Xavier Collins (Sterling K. Brown) and paradise boss Samantha “Sinatra” Redmond (Julianne Nicholson), she hardly keeps it together at the end of the hour.
Following Xavier and Robinson’s (Krys Marshall) “Die Hard” -Sque Mission to buy Sinatra’s hidden stock of weapons and try to eliminate Sinatra’s Snode Acts and the lies she has told to Paradise’s Bunker Indenters in Paradise, Sinatra eliminates artificial air against all the recommendations from Torabi to the Xavier team Stopping everyone in panic. When the lights are finally restarted, the city therapist Xavier convinces to hear Sinatra at least. That conversation, which takes place without Torabi to hear it, concludes with Sinatra who says Xavier that his wife actually still lives somewhere outside the bunker.
So what does that mean for Torabi – torn between loyalty to Sinatra and sympathy and romantic feelings towards Xavier – and the health of the Quarantainezette City that she tries to look at so desperately when we enter the last two episodes of the first season of Dan Ingebogman’s “Paradise”?
“At the moment, her most important focus is to try to use paradise,” Shahi said Variety. “She is a bit the architect. She is one of the builders of the city, and since that is all that she believes that remains of the world, her absolute priority will try to maintain paradise. It is an interesting thing, playing her, because while everyone is more or less connected to the murder of the president, as the therapist, she was a kind of city speaker. She just tries to ensure that everyone, in the absence of a better word, can just get along with each other. ”
She continued: “It’s about getting the two quote villages – although Xavier is not really a villain – that tries to have Xavier and Sinatra meet on a common basis. They are both family men. They both want their families to be safe. And to stay that way, Paradise must float. ‘
Despite that “very nice shower together”, Xavier and Torabi shared earlier in the season – in which they spilled the precious little information she had about President Cal Bradford (James Marsden )’s suspicions before he was killed – Shahi says that Bombshell says Xavier from Sinatra will certainly change things for Torabi from Sinatra: “Her relationship with Xavier Opzij, whatever that is meant, we discover At the end of episode 6 that his wife lives and that she is out there. “
But in the universe, Torabi does not know that yet – and she certainly does not know that Sinatra not only knows that people outside the bunker live, but that they have actively killed to prevent them from trying to enter paradise. That will affect how Torabi views her boss, because she now has more empathy for the technical Mogul than anyone else.
“She just sees humanity in Sinatra because they have met in such a vulnerable time in her life,” Shahi explains, referring to Torabi’s first job to help mega-rich Tech-Mogul Sinatra deal with the death of the death of Her son years before bunker life. “I think she is able to see another side of Sinatra that most don’t get to see, so she is human for Torabi.”
