Prolific comedy writer Bill Lawrence gave an update on where his reboot of “scrubs” is in the development phase while speaking Variety On the Writers Guild Awards Red Carpet Saturday in New York.
“Well, the first is, during an interview, my wife ask if she will do the show when she has time,” said Lawrence as she stood next to his wife, “Scrubs” Alum Christa Miller.
Fortunately for Lawrence, Miller replied: “Of course.”
With that cleaning up, the ‘scrubs’ maker continued with saying:’ We are busy with the cool, putting together the writers. And it’s the best in the world to see that some of the most talented writers in the world wrote in that show and they are all still friends and my friends. And so [we] Have a combination of the old and new. We are just starting to build it now. And I expect it to appear soon. ”
“Scrubs” was originally broadcast on NBC for his first seven seasons of 2001-2008, followed by two seasons on ABC of 2009-2010. The comedy with one cam took place in the Sacred Heart Hospital and followed the interns, doctors, nurses and the caretaker through their daily lives in the hospital. The cast included Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes, Ken Jenkins, John C. McGinley and Neil Flynn, as well as Miller in the recurring role of Jordan Sullivan.
In December, Variety Confirmed Lawrence worked on a new iteration of the series via the 20th television for ABC. The original series was produced by ABC Studios, which was recently recorded in the 20th TV as part of a restructuring of parent company Disney. (Lawrence remains under his overall deal at Warner Bros. Television, where the studio plays space for Lawrence to work with his former studio partners on ‘Scrubs’.)
After years of fan -requirement and reunion, Lawrence explains why he finally decided that it was now the time to bring back the beloved medical comedy.
“I have thought a lot about it and I think the most important impulse is selfish,” the writer said. “It is that we are all friends, and we enjoy spending time together, and you cannot meet a writer or an actor or actress in that show, a crew member, that that is not one of the highlights of their career. And so we were all like, even if it is exactly, why wouldn’t you do it again? And that is part of the pleasure. ”
When accepting the Writers Guild of America East’s Herb Sargent Award for Comedy Excellence during the 77th annual WGA Awards on Saturday, Lawrence was praised for his work on “Scrubs”, as well as “Ted Lasso”, “Krimkende”, “Bad Monkey” Cougar Town “and” Spin City. ”
Although he was able to give an update about the reboot “scrubs”, he kills all questions about season 4 “Ted Lasso”, who is said to watch a greenlight to Apple TV+, about to Ted Lasso itself, co- Maker and Ster Jason Sudeikis.
