A docuseries about the rise and fall of Sean “Diddy” Combs is in the works from Investigation Discovery and “Quiet on Set” producer Maxine Productions.
The news was announced the day after the music mogul was formally charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution.
According to a press release, the currently untitled project will investigate “the allegations of violent behavior and illegal activities that haunt the music mogul. As stories of sexual assault, abusive behavior and other disturbing allegations come to light, the documentary follows the story of this self-proclaimed Bad Boy, unraveling allegations of a pattern of depravity.”
After the charges were unsealed Tuesday, Combs pleaded not guilty at a hearing in Manhattan and was denied bail. He will remain in federal custody pending the outcome of his trial. If found guilty, Combs faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years and possibly life in prison.
The indictment alleged that Combs had been violent, abusive and coercive toward women for years, including orchestrating multi-day “freak-offs” that forced women to perform sex acts on male sex workers, sometimes on camera. Other allegations included hitting, kicking and dragging women by their hair, as well as a case of kidnapping at gunpoint and setting someone’s car on fire with a Molotov cocktail. Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, continued to defend his client’s innocence and said Tuesday he would appeal the decision to deny bail.
The docuseries will feature interviews with alleged victims and in-depth reporting from Rolling Stone and archival footage. In addition to Maxine Productions, IPC produces in collaboration with Rolling Stone Films.
The project will premiere on ID and Max in 2025.
