Donald Trump came across a garbage truck with his name on it on Wednesday, and Sean Hannity’s book called it an “iconic, epic moment.”
‘Look at that. This could go down in history as an iconic, epic moment that we will remember for a long time,” said the Fox News host said on his show Wednesday. “Donald Trump takes a very special ride on a garbage truck, decked out in American flags, MAGA gear.”
Video on the screen showed the moment the former president nearly slipped on the wet ground while trying to open the vehicle’s door in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
“You can tell a lot about the state of a campaign by optics,” Hannity added without a hint of irony, as Fox News showed footage of Trump in a hi-vis vest frowning out the window of the garbage truck bearing the campaign logo.
“Garbage” has been the word of the week in the latter part of the 2024 campaign, after a comedian at Trump’s hate-filled Madison Square Garden rally called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage,” leaving tens of thousands of Puerto Possibly alienating Rico’s population from each other. Rican voters living in the key swing state of Pennsylvania.
Criticizing Trump over the incident on Tuesday, Biden said: “The only trash I see floating out there is his supporters, his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable.”
The White House clarified that Biden meant “supporters,” to indicate the comedian’s racist rhetoric, but Trump and others on the right have taken the moment to insist that the president thinks they are trash.
Trump’s truck stunt was intended as a jab at Biden’s blunder, even as he continues to deal with the fallout from his own “garbage incident.” Trump has refused to condemn the comedian’s comment, even as his campaign tried to distance itself from it.
On social media, Hannity’s chilling praise went viral and earned him comparisons to North Korean state television.
