“The Sandman” adds several new cast members to the already growing lineup for Season 2, and these actors will play characters introduced in fan-favorite storylines from Neil Gaiman’s beloved DC graphic novel series, including Ruairi O’Connor , who was cast as the son of Tom Sturridge’s Dream.

Netflix announced this on its Tudum website on Tuesday that O’Connor will play Orpheus: “the poet, musician and oracle, is the only child of Dream and the muse, Calliope (last seen in “The Sandman”, episode 111). Orpheus is an idealistic, romantic young man – and very much his father’s son – until tragedy strikes and reveals to him the true nature of love.

Also joins the cast of “The Sandman” for season 2, according to Tudumare Freddie Fox as Loki, Clive Russell as Odin, Laurence O’Fuarain as Thor, Ann Skelly as Nuala, Douglas Booth as Cluracan and Jack Gleeson as Puck, all characters from the ‘Season of Mists’ arc of ‘The Sandman’ graphic novels.

In addition, Indya Moore will play Wanda and Steve Coogan will voice Barnabas the dog, two roles introduced in the “Brief Lives” storyline from the comics.

According to the season 1 description for the series: “When the Sandman aka Dream (Tom Sturridge) – the powerful cosmic being who controls all our dreams – is unexpectedly captured and held captive for over a century, he must go through several travel worlds and timelines. to resolve the chaos his absence has caused.”

In May, Netflix unveiled the first new castings for season 2 of ‘The Sandman’: Esmé Creed-Miles as Delirium, Adrian Lester as Destiny and Barry Sloane as ‘The Prodigal’. That trio of characters (who also play major roles in the ‘Season of Mists’ and ‘Brief Lives’ storylines) are the remaining members of ‘The Endless’ family that Dream is a part of, and will join the returning brothers and sisters from season 1, Death (Kirby), Desire (Mason Alexander Park), Despair (Donna Preston) and Dream, The Sandman himself.

Other cast members returning for season 2 of “The Sandman” include Patton Oswalt as Matthew the Raven, Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne, Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer Morningstar, Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine, Ferdinand Kingsley as Hob Gadling, Stephen Fry as Gilbert, Asim Chaudhry as Abel, Sanjeev Bhaskar as Cain, Vanesu Samunyai as Rose Walker and Razane Jammal as Lyta Hall.

“The Sandman” was developed by Gaiman, showrunner Allan Heinberg and David S. Goyer, from the DC comics of the same name by Gaiman, Sam Keith and Mike Dringenberg. All episodes of season 2 are directed by Jamie Childs.

The series is produced by DC rights owner Warner Bros. Television.
