A first video of “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place” has been unveiled by Disney, featuring behind-the-scenes moments with the series’ main cast, including David Henrie and Janice LeAnn Brown, along with executive producer and guest star Selena Gomez.
“This is where it all started,” Gomez says in the first production look. “We’re home!”
The spinoff of “Wizards of Waverly Place” follows an adult Justin Russo (Henrie) who chooses to live a normal, mortal life with his family Giada (Mimi Gianopulos), Roman (Alkaio Thiele) and Milo (Max Matenko). When Alex Russo (Gomez) brings Billie (Brown) to his house to seek help, Justin must brush up on his magical skills to guide the young wizard-in-training and juggle his daily responsibilities.
The first look features clips from the upcoming sitcom series and sees Alex and Billie step through a magical portal to enter Justin’s house. Billie uses her powers to make eggs scramble onto the stove, make a burrito appear and more.
Additionally, David DeLuise, who starred in the original series as Jerry, the Russo’s father, appears in the first look video. He will return to the franchise as a guest star. Taylor Cora also rounds out the cast as regular Winter, Billie’s best friend.
Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas serve as writers and executive producers, along with executive producers Gary Marsh, Jonas Agin, Gomez and Henrie. Andy Fickman directed and produced the pilot and will direct multiple episodes.
The series will premiere on Disney Channel and Disney+ later in 2024. Check out the first look below.
