San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich didn’t hold back when he criticized “pathetic” Donald Trump and his “bully”-like qualities in a lengthy pre-game tirade during a press conference on Saturday.
Popovich, who described the former president as a “little” and “damaged man,” called out Republicans for supporting him when they knew “he’s an ass.”
‘They called him xenophobe, a religious fanatica racist, unsuitable for the officeon and on. It’s their words, but they have his back,” said the coaching icon, an outspoken Trump critic.
“Don’t they know that they probably have children and grandchildren who will lose their freedom if this man is elected? I’m not talking about a policy, I’m talking about the idea of our country.”
Popovich previously called the Republican candidate the “biggest whiner to ever walk the earth” in his remarks.
“I mean, he’s the poorest example of a fifth-grade bully I’ve ever seen. I mean, I just wish your kids would act like him? he asked.
Popovich continued to mock Trump for throwing up “apologies” during his campaign.
″[He’s like,] ‘Everyone is after me, everyone, this, that and the other. I’m doing this for you. Poor me, poor me. Whining, whining, whining.’ And look at the election he lost and he keeps lying about it,” Popovich said.
Popovich later pointed to his grandchildren and asked if he wanted the former president to be an “example” for them when things don’t go well.
“Like everyone else in this room, hopefully we have all taught our children, ‘You won’t always win, but when you win, be humble.’ If you lose, do it with grace.” We all do that. He doesn’t do that,” he said, with a nod to Trump’s 2020 election loss.

“And so you wonder, all the people who support him, would they want him to teach their children?”
