On Thursday, Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio sparked heated debate among Steelers fans, suggesting Aaron Rodgers could be coming to Pittsburgh in 2025. The speculation stems from the fact that Russell Wilson and Justin Fields are nearing the end of their contracts, with neither quarterback cementing a long-term role.

Steelers supporters flooded social media with immediate opposition to the idea. The fan response showed a clear preference for developing current talent rather than gambling on an aging superstar with recent performance issues.

The discussion has gained momentum as Pittsburgh faces mounting pressure to win their first playoff game since 2016. With three straight losses under Wilson, Florio suggested the Steelers could look at Rodgers as a short-term solution.

“If/when Rodgers is released by the Jets, why wouldn’t the Steelers consider adding him?” Florio wrote.

He highlighted Pittsburgh’s stable environment as a potential attraction, citing “minimal dysfunction, few leaks, strong leadership, continuity and consistency.”

Many fans were skeptical about Aaron Rodgers’ declining performance and the potential impact on team dynamics.

“There was a time I would have killed for this. No more man, Rodgers is washed,” one fan posted on X.

Another warned, “If Tomlin brings in Rodgers, I’m officially on the Fire Tomlin train.”

A third fan added: “Mike wouldn’t put up with Aaron’s desire to be the main character over the team.”

Some fans prioritized stability and youth in their responses.

“I have to keep Justin if this is the case. No questions,’ argued one supporter.

Others focused their frustration in leadership, with comments such as ‘I’d rather fire Tomlin’

“Now it’s Tomlin who has to go, he just can’t get it done in the big ones,” added another.

Aaron Rodgers’ December 17 appearance on the Pat McAfee Show revealed his respect for Mike Tomlin’s coaching achievements.

“There’s only one Mike Tomlin, first and foremost, and you have to give credit to Mike. He’s got the special sauce,” Rodgers said, praising Tomlin’s streak of 18 seasons without a losing record.

The debate is heating up as Pittsburgh approaches a crucial crossroads in the playoffs. The Steelers could secure the No. 5 seed and face the Houston Texans, or with help from the Cleveland Browns, potentially host the Los Angeles Chargers.

This postseason performance could determine whether Pittsburgh pursues a veteran like Aaron Rodgers or maintains faith in their current quarterback room.
