The suspect in a fatal hostage situation and shooting earlier this month at the Arista Flats apartment complex in Broomfield has been charged with more than two dozen crimes, including first-degree murder.
Gregory Miles, 34, was charged with one count of first-degree murder, four counts of attempted first-degree murder, 18 counts of attempted first-degree murder of a peace officer and a sentence enhancement for violent crime, according to the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office .
Miles is accused of taking hostage and killing Aisha Quest — a woman he lived with at Arista Flats — during the Sept. 12 standoff at the complex, prosecutors said Thursday. Officials still have not specified the nature of their relationship.
Since 2009, Miles has been arrested nine times in Colorado on domestic violence charges — including stalking, harassment, sexual assault, child abuse and protective order violations — according to court records.
During the same time period, the 34-year-old has pleaded guilty or pleaded guilty in four Colorado counties to charges including menacing, intimidation, third-degree assault, second-degree assault with a deadly weapon, animal cruelty, kidnapping/false assault. jail time and criminal mischief, according to court records.
