Sutton Foster was all smiles as she supported her friend Hugh Jackman during the opening night of his Radio City Music Hall Show From New York, with love.
Foster, 49, attended the first night of Jackman’s concert on Friday, January 24, wearing a black sequined dress and matching jacket — as seen in photos obtained by People. The Broadway icon was joined by Jackman’s friends during the show: Deadpool and Wolverine director Shawn Levy And Ryan Reynoldswho also made a surprise appearance in the audience for an impromptu “Hugh & A” session.
Reynolds, 48, raved about Jackman, 56, telling the crowd: “I really just wanted to say, I love this man, I care about this man. He is truly the best person I know. And I have four children!”
He added that Jackman was “my gotcha for life” even though, Reynolds claimed, “I’m his second best friend.”
Perhaps his first best friend is Foster, who Jackman has also praised in the past after the duo starred together in Broadway’s revival of The music man in 2022, with Professor Harold Hill and Marian Paroo respectively.
“He’s one of the best guys ever, an incredible costar,” she said People last year. “And yes, I think everyone already knows that.”
Sources said this earlier We weekly that Foster and Jackman’s friendship developed into a romantic relationship during their marriage The Music Man run – and while they were still married to other people. Jackman and his wife of 27 years, Deborra-lee Furnessannounced their split in September 2023, while; Foster filed for divorce from the screenwriter Ted Griffin in October 2024 after 10 years of marriage.
“Sutton and Hugh’s relationship is the reason Hugh and Deb divorced,” a source close to Foster said Us in November 2024. “A lot of people on Broadway knew, and we kept it quiet because they’re both such nice and wonderful people. Everyone respected his privacy. But there was an affair and overlap.”
According to the source, Jackman and Foster are “really happy now.”

In 2022, Foster said Fashion thanks to whom Jackman had become one of her best friends The Music Man – and noted that they even had family gatherings. (Jackman and Furness, 69, adopted son Oscar, 24, in 2000 and daughter Ava, 19, in 2005; Foster and Griffin are parents to Emily, 7, whom they adopted in 2017.)
“Usually you go into things like this and think, ‘Well, I hope we get along,” she explained, “but we just spent Memorial Day with our families.”
Foster also revealed that she and Jackman would sit on the floor of her dressing room and chat before every show. “It’s such an amazing thing,” Foster said during a performance on Live with Kelly and Ryan. “We just talk and catch up on our day. That’s one of the best things about it all,” she added, “is that I’ve made this amazing new friend.”
Jackman raved about their friendship in a December 2021 Instagram post, writing of Foster, “You are an exceptional talent and a friend. Your joy brings the entire @musicmanbway company to life. I can’t wait for the world to see you as Marian. They are poised for an explosion of awesomeness.”
