Sorry, Swifties, there’s no secret footage of this Taylor Swift on the Deadpool and Wolverine cutting room floor.
Director Shawn Levy emphatically stated in an interview with Entertainment weekly published on Monday, August 5, that speculation that Swift could appear in the film as superhero Dazzler was just that: speculation. The pop star is of course good friends with it Ryan Reynolds and his wife, Blake Livelywhich caused a fan frenzy over a cameo.
“I’ve definitely had moments where I was afraid I was going to disappoint people when they realized that Taylor as Dazzler wasn’t in the movie, but there’s no control over the internet, and rumors spread like wildfire,” she said. Levy at the outlet.
“It was never a conversation. It has never been the seed of a discussion. Obviously, Ryan and Blake, and myself, to a much lesser extent, have our own relationships with Taylor in real life,” he added. “But yes, those rumors were loud and somewhat baffling, but nothing I said or did could quiet them until this movie came out.”
In a separate interview with Variety on Monday, Levy said, “That was one of the loudest rumors that came out of nowhere. It was never true. Thank you, the Internet, for putting up such a smokescreen of rumors and half-truths so that no one ever knew what was going to happen.”
