Tecno has just entered the AI-driven smart glass market and offers further evidence that there is a demand for this type of portable technology.
At MWC 2025 in Barcelona, the company revealed its AI glasses and AI glasses Pro. And if Tecno can make this happen, there is absolutely room for Apple to bring its own version to the table, despite rumors that the project has been canceled.
The AI glasses from Tecno lands at a time when Apple’s Vision Pro has not succeeded in becoming the revolutionary product that it was intended. While Apple’s headset has advanced displays and spatial computer functions, it is hindered by a high price tag, limited battery life and a large design.
Moreover, the external battery, tied to the headset via a cable, is an uncomfortable solution and the device itself feels more like an expensive experiment than as a practical daily accessory.
Furthermore, the Headset of Apple isolates users, making it better suited for watching films than for daily productivity. Managing apps in Visionos also feels awkward compared to the can -based interface that smart glasses could offer.

This is where Apple could take a signal from Tecno and others. Smart glasses can be really useful and offer real-time navigation, reports, translations and seamless AI interactions. In contrast to the Vision Pro, which requires total immersion, lightweight smart glasses could be absorbed in daily life without attracting unwanted attention.
Even if Apple’s AR glasses are off the table for the time being, the demand for AI-driven smart glasses does not go anywhere. The new releases from Tecno, together with other prospective competitors, prove that there is a strong market for practical, lightweight smart glasses that integrate AI seamlessly.

For now, Apple seems focused on refining the Vision Pro, but that headset will never be a real daily portable. If the company wants to have a real impact in the AR room, it must ultimately visit the idea of smart glasses.
In the meantime, that is not all that Tecno has shown during this year’s MWC event in Barcelona, because his Galaxy S25 Edge rival thin telephones ties to the next level.
