Interstate 70’s westbound exit to Colfax Avenue in Aurora will be closed for about two weeks starting Monday due to the city’s I-70 Picadilly Interchange Project.
The project will close the exit Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. until September 20. The ramp will be open on Saturdays and Sundays, according to the press release.
To access Colfax Avenue during the closures, motorists can head west on I-70 and turn onto Tower Road, the news release said.
The ramp will be closed so crews can perform immediate work in the I-70 median to construct the project’s divergent diamond interchange, which will feature advanced signaling systems and improved lighting for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists, according to the news release.
Construction of the new interchange started last year and is expected to last until the end of 2025.
The I-70 Picadilly Interchange Project is funded by the city, the Aerotropolis Regional Transportation Authority and a $25 million federal grant from the Federal Highway Administration, according to the city website.
