The Israeli army said on Sunday that five soldiers were killed in southern Lebanon, bringing to 37 the number of deaths for soldiers fighting there since the start of ground operations on September 30.
The soldiers “fell during fighting in southern Lebanon,” the army said in a statement, adding that they were killed on Saturday.
Hezbollah began launching rockets into Israel on October 8, 2023, in support of Hamas, after the Palestinian group launched its unprecedented attack on Israel the day before.

The war has killed at least 1,615 people in Lebanon since September 23, according to an AFP count based on official figures, although the actual number is likely to be higher due to gaps in the data.
