Our opinion
The last of the American season 2 continues to set the bar for Game adjustments, with great performances and action up to eleven. But it is not to be denied that fans of the source material will probably get more out of this season than those who go blindly.

Just like the first episode, the last of our season 2 does not bump, hammering for the ultimate question: how far would you go for love?
The heartbreaking, post-apocalyptic TV adjustment of the Naughty Dog title, starring Bella Ramsay and Pedro Pascal, conquered the world in 2023, who gathered both fans of the original game and new viewers who were simply working on the ride.
As such, this is a small conflict. That’s because this season part of the game adjusts the last of our part II … but not everything. It means that, despite many aspects of the production that HBO present at its best, the story is incomplete. Although those who are aware will understand the structure, I fear that those who come to this show with fresh eyes may not have the same experience.
But let’s start with the good that is in abundance. This is a tighter season than the first. None of the episodes feels like wasted space, which was one of my complaints from the first season – although it may be that the edition of this year has a shorter run, with seven episodes instead of nine.

We are brought forward every week, and although the story is goal -oriented and driven, it is not rushed. It even takes more time to explore character-oriented moments than season 1-pause and enable the public to sit with our leads, so that they give even more emotional depth to their personalities, including some sections that will be a welcome surprise for GameFans.
Several of these segments left me foggy eyes, although not entirely at the same ugly Sobbing level as the Bill and Frank episode from the first series, which in reflection contained higher highlights and lower lows than this year’s story.
Makers Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann are not afraid to deviate this time from a shot-for-shot remake, changes in the order of events where necessary to create a stronger story that works better for television, although there are a number of astonishing moments that were not in the first season.
This year, the cast is going into strength to strength, from both return and new talent
Although no information about the budget of season 2 has been publicly announced, it is clear that more DOSH has been spent on achieving high action and ambitious sequences, which are just as impressive as horrible (such as standard with the last of us). Sometimes it felt just as monumental as some of the fights in the Fantasy Epic, Game of Thrones.
The cast is going into force to strength this year, both returning and new talent. Bella Ramsay is proof of their generation and performs a debilitating version with raw, unfiltered passion. We meet an older, more mature ellie now that is a well -seasoned hunter against the infected, although incredibly stubborn and defective. Although some people miss the child’s wonder of the first performance, that is exactly the point.
The talent of Pedro Pascal is no secret, and his role as father figure, Joel, will leave you again a lump in your throat. The couple makes magic together, although there is another companion from Ellie who shines just as bright, and that is Isabela Merced as Dina. She is incredibly charming and very easy to root like the Yang of Ellie’s Yin.

I know that there were reservations about the casting of Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, namely because she was not built as a champion bodybuilder as her counterpart of games. Let me put that worries in bed: the fact that she was not fueled does not detract from her ruthlessness and her powerful presence in the story. She is without a doubt the right person for this role.
Apart from Pacing and versions, there are story elements in this season that are referred to in this season that are being woven everywhere too mysteriously. Although that works for a medium as a game, where players can experience the story during the few weeks of playing time, I have the feeling that those who just look at the show can be somewhat eliminated at these times.
Fans of the original will love it and will almost certainly explain the perfect game adjustment again. But if you are not familiar with the source material, you may not have the same answer
The edition of the Last of US from 2025 has the Empire Strikes Back Effect. In contrast to season 1, the end is not wrapped in a neat small bow. Game fans are likely to expect this and enjoy speculating about the future Pacing and what will be plagued for the future.
However, if you are not a gamer and only view this show, you have many questions, which means that you can feel frustrated. That will take double, so if you discover that season 3 will not come quickly, with the filming that starts this summer.
Perhaps if that next part has been released, that TV -fans season 2 can watch and appreciate for what it was. But if a self -standing entity cannot be denied that this structure hinders how much pleasure and satisfaction audience will experience.
It is difficult to say how this problem would be solved without seeing how the story of the following season unfolds, and that has made scoring this assessment particularly difficult as a critic.

Do you have to view the last of our season 2?
The Last of Us continues to define what a zombie story is, in the classic HBO style. It has the perfect cast that all approaching incredibly harmful material with verve, while the surrounding post-apocalyptic background is aimed at full throttle. I guarantee that the internet will set alive every week.
Fans of the original story will love it and will almost certainly explain the perfect game adjustment again. But if you are not familiar with the source material, you may not have the same answer.
Do you have to stop that to view it? Absolutely not.
The last of the American season 2 will premiere on HBO and Max on Sunday, April 13, at 9 p.m. et/pt in the US. Due to time differences, the British viewers can catch it on Monday, April 14 from 2 a.m. at Sky Atlantic and now. New episodes will fall every week.
