Three seasons of The Legend of Vox Machina have brought in wizards, elves, gnomes, vampires, sphinxes and dragons, as well as raunchy dialogue, dirty humor and some amazing songs. Everything indicates that the fourth season of the series, now officially announced by Amazon, will feature even more unusual creatures and memorable moments.
In 2022, the first part of The Legend of Vox Machina was launched on Prime Video to huge success. Critical Role, the web series from which it emerged, and created by voice actor friends, had a devoted fan base. However, the Amazon series had to break through to a wider audience. And that happened: the crazy animated series about a group of Dungeons & Dragons characters has caused a lot of fuss.
But what’s in store for fans in season 4? We’ve rounded up the most important information about the new episode of Amazon’s show.
The Legend of Vox Machina Season 4 Release Date
Amazon has greenlit a fourth season of the series, but has not yet announced when it might premiere.
Season 2 arrived just a year after the premiere of Season 1. However, fans had to wait almost two years for Season 3. The SAG-AFTRA strike caused the delay, so Season 4 could arrive sooner, perhaps as early as Fall 2025.

The Legend of Vox Machina season 4 plot
In Season 3, Vox Machina finally managed to defeat the Chroma Conclave. After killing Thordak, the group set out to find the devious Raishan, who, it turned out, had been plotting all along. However, during the battle in the ziggurat, the team killed the dragoness, who took over Thordak’s corpse.
Additionally, in the season finale, Vax traveled to the realm of the demon Orthax to free Percy’s soul. Thus the sniper was brought back to life.
After the destruction of the Chroma Conclave, the members of Vox Machina went their separate ways. Scanlan decided to travel with his daughter Kaylie. Percy and Vex settled in Whitestone for a while, while Vax decided to accompany Keyleth on her Aramenté journey. Pike, on the other hand, stayed with her best friend Grog, although their plans have not yet been clarified.
Critical Role isn’t announcing plans for season 4 just yet, but we can guess a few things.

The creators added a huge cliffhanger in the final episode of season 3. In a scene set in a secret room, a group of people with blindfolded and bleeding eyes summoned a mysterious creature. The strange entity did indeed materialize and in a sudden flash of light we could see the skull adorned with a tiara.
As Dungeons & Dragons fans might have guessed, the demonic entity is…. Vecna. The name will also sound familiar to Stranger Things fans, a series that is heavily inspired by the cult game. In the world of Vox Machina, the entity is known as The Whispered One. Critical Role does not own the copyright to the character’s legal name.
Vecna, also known as The Whispered One, was once a human king and necromancer who turned into a powerful lich: an undead mage who hid his soul in a reliquary. This creature already appeared at the end of the first season of Legend of Vox Machina – The Whispered One was then summoned by Delilah Briarwood. Apparently, he and his followers will be the heroes’ main enemies in season 4.
However, this isn’t the only sinister creature that will stand in Vox Machina’s way. The gang will likely once again encounter Zerxus Ilerez, the devil collector who is deeply interested in possessing Pike’s soul.

Another major storyline in the new season will certainly be the deal between Vax and the Matron of Ravens and the price the half-elf has to pay for retrieving Percy’s soul. In the last episode of season 3, a mysterious dark spot grew on Vax’s arm, which can’t be a sign of anything good.
Of course, season 4 will consist of more than chases, fights and escapes. We’ll see how Keyleth’s Aramenté journey will go. We can also count on continuing the relationships between Keyleth and Vax, Percy and Vex, and Scanlan and his daughter Kaylie and (possibly) Pike.

Will there be season 5 of The Legend of Vox Machina?
So far, Amazon has not revealed whether the mercenary group will return for season 5. For information on this topic, we will have to wait at least until the premiere of the first episodes of season 4 – their viewership will determine the further fate of the series.
However, fans don’t have to worry: everything indicates that you don’t have to leave Exandria too quickly. Another animated series based on Critical Role campaigns is currently in the works on Amazon. The mighty Nein tells the story of a group of criminals: human wizard Caleb Widogast, goblin villain Nott the Brave, human monk Beau Lionett, tiefling cleric Jester Lavorre, tiefling blood Molly Tealeaf, and barbarian Yasha Nydoorin and the half -orc warlock Fjord.
According to the makers, The Mighty Nein will be a completely different story than The Legend of Vox Machina and will come as a real surprise for fans.
