The smallest handmade sculpture in the world is a LEGO bin of blood cells.

The new Guinness World Record holder for the smallest handmade sculpture is so minuscule that you can’t even see it with the naked eye. Completed at the end of last year and confirmed this week in one Announcement of Guinness PressMicro-artist David Lindon has succeeded in building a red LEGO brick with dimensions that are roughly the same as those of a single human white blood cell. Lindon used a special calibrated light microscope to make the sculpture that only measures 0.02517 mm at 0.02184 mm.

Each is built by the mounting of microblading -razors at the ends of instrument screwdrivers, many of which subsequently have extra microscopic attachments. The tool is made of silicon carbide, a material whose hardness is only surpassed by diamonds.

The process required months of planning, followed by even more months of meticulous sculpting with the help of a handmade tool set. Lindon worked 6-10 hours at a time, but only at night to reduce the risk of disturbances of traffic vibrations. On a personal level, the self-described ‘micro-artist’ also learned to slow down his breathing to work without disturbing the incredibly sensitive construction project.

“Even the wrist of my heart that is right through my fingers creates too much movement,” he said in the Announcement of Guinness World Record.

In the end, Lindon actually built three separate LEGO bricks – of which is each less than the width of a human hair and easily fits on a pinhead. The first, a LEGO piece with eight spot, is officially recognized as the narrowest handmade structure ever built, while a brick with four spot is measured four times smaller than the previous record in 2017 by Lindon Friend and colleague -Microartist Willard Wigan. His last sculpture, a brick with one point, also became his fastest project so far about 20 minutes.

Lindon, a former engineer of the British Ministry of Defense, started working for the first time on micro-sculptures in 2019 and quickly created pieces such as miniature recreations of Van Gogh Paintings They fit a watch mechanism. Follow -up projects included Micro -Balloon dogs Similar to those made famous by artist Jeff Koons.

According to the BBCLindon is not going to stay with microscopic recreation of classic toys. His next project planned to release later this year, “The Smallest Zoo in the World”, includes an animal companion that is sculpted in the eyes of needles.
