Samsung’s foldable phone game has been impressive lately.
Just when we thought the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 were the only foldable devices of 2024, there’s news of something even better on the horizon. But contain your excitement – unless you live in South Korea or China, you probably won’t get your hands on it.
The device is rumored to be known as the ‘Galaxy Fold6 Special Edition’, although the rest of the world may be left out.

For weeks we have been hearing that a so-called ‘Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition’ would be released on September 25 (via GalaxyClub and The Chosun, among others). That date came and went with no new foldable device in sight, leading us to believe the leak might be a hoax.
However, recently a Korean retailer seemingly said it all about a new foldable tablet, but with a twist: they called it the ‘Galaxy Fold6 Special Edition’.
This foldable version would be available for pre-orders in Korea from October 18 to 24, with an official release date of October 25. So the earlier leak of September 25 may not have been completely wrong, but only a month premature.
However, the store page that alluded to this has since been removed.
Keep in mind that this could just be a typo or a false rumor, so take it with a grain of salt. For now, we’ll have to wait and see if the October timeline holds up.

If the rumors are true, the Galaxy Fold6 Special Edition is a beast, even surpassing the already impressive Galaxy Z Fold 6 in some key areas.
It’s said to have a larger 8-inch internal folding screen and a 6.5-inch cover display, wrapped in a slimmer design that measures just 10.6mm when folded. For context, that’s significantly slimmer than the 13.4mm thickness of the Z Fold 6, and closer to the 9.2mm Honor Magic V3, which still leads the way in this regard.
But that’s not all. This so-called special edition could also be equipped with a 200Mp main lens, an upgrade from the Z Fold 6’s 50Mp camera.

However, if the leaks are true, the ‘Galaxy Fold6 Special Edition’ will only be available in South Korea and possibly China.
Why would Samsung limit such an exciting device to just two regions? It could be a strategic move to gauge market reception, or a way to create buzz through exclusivity.
Either way, it’s a tough pill to swallow for Samsung fans around the world, most of whom likely won’t get the chance to experience this more powerful, sleek foldable product.

However, you can experience Samsung’s latest foldable technology with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, both of which are now on sale in the UK and US.
Instead of an even more premium version, Samsung may be gearing up to release a more affordable model, possibly known as the Galaxy Z Fold FE.
