Wayne Enterprises – a real, licensed company dedicated to luxury accessories fit for billionaires – has announced it is accepting pre-orders for the Tumbler, also known as the Dark Knight‘s military-grade Batmobile. The approximately 5,000-pound vehicle is made of Kevlar, carbon fiber and fiberglass sheet and features a 525-horsepower 6.2-liter LS3 V-8 engine, “advanced software upgrades” and a two-seat interior. While the jet engine and gun turrets from the Nolan films are non-functioning replicas of the real Tumbler, it does feature a real smokescreen system for your inevitable evasive escapes.
Of course, none of this will be cheap. Each Wayne Enterprises Tumbler will net a potential owner approximately $2.99 million, and each vehicle is estimated to take fifteen months to build and deliver. Plus, the company only accepts requests for spare spots, so no one is necessarily guaranteed their Batmobile joyride, even if they have an obscene amount of disposable income. Those who actually get their comic book dream car will also need to access race tracks or closed roads, as Wayne Enterprises insists the Tumbler is definitely not street legal. On the other hand, Batman never exactly followed the law either.
