Thornton police officers shot and wounded an armed man who reportedly resisted arrest Tuesday evening.
Tuesday around 8 p.m., Thornton officers approached a man with an arrest warrant in a parking lot in the 200 block of East 120th Avenue — just west of Interstate 25 near Webster Lake — according to a press release from the police station.
Officers told the man he was under arrest, but he refused to listen to officers and tried to run away, the news release said.
Police said officers fired a Taser at the man, but it was “ineffective.” When the man pulled a gun in response, several officers shot him.
Paramedics transported the man to a hospital with “serious injuries,” police said in the press release. An update on his condition was not available Wednesday morning.
The 17th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team will investigate the shooting and the officers’ use of force.
None of the officers were injured and all have been placed on administrative leave during the investigation, police said. The number of officers involved in the shooting was not known Wednesday.
This is a developing story and may be updated.
