According to a press release, TLC announced the cancellation of the show 30 minutes before the start time at the New York State Fair in Syracuse.
“Shortly after arriving in Syracuse, Tionne ‘T-Boz’ Watkins experienced sudden and severe nausea, vomiting and severe abdominal cramps,” the statement said. “She was immediately seen by a doctor and then taken to hospital for further assessment.”
T-Boz, 54, was diagnosed with a “severe abdominal blockage” and remains in hospital with the expectation that she will be discharged on Sunday, August 25.
“The doctor determined that this was not food poisoning, but an abdominal blockage,” the statement said. “Tionne deeply regrets having to cancel these shows and sincerely apologizes to all her fans and the event organizers. The decision to cancel was made on the advice of her doctor, who required her to stay in hospital overnight to undergo a CT scan to assess the severity of her condition.”
The press release further stated that TLC – a duo featuring T-Boz and Rozonda “Chili” Thomas after his death in 2002 Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes – is “committed to rescheduling” the canceled concerts.
T-Boz shared the statement through her Instagram on Saturday, noting that she is feeling much better.

This was just one of those unexpected things that was out of my control,” she captioned her post. “I’m looking forward to making it up to all of you… And hopefully I can leave the hospital soon!!! If all goes well, tomorrow!!! Thank you for your understanding…Blessings always, T.”
T-Boz has opened up about several past health issues, including sickle cell disease.
“When you have sickle cell disease, your red blood cells become stuck in your arteries, causing blockages and blocking oxygen from reaching your vital organs,” she wrote in her 2017 memoir: A sick life. “If there is a lack of oxygen, you can end up in a crisis, an attack of severe pain, sometimes only in a certain spot and sometimes all over your body. Often it is difficult to breathe or walk or even do something as simple as holding a pen. A crisis can happen without any warning. Just, bam! You are back in the hospital.”
T-Boz was also previously diagnosed with a benign brain tumor, which was removed in 2006.
