When Travis Kelce started dating for the first time Taylor Swifthe hesitated to share the details with his brother, Jason Kelce.
“I think he was very careful about telling me or anyone,” Jason, 36, told the Tuesday, September 3, edition of “The Pivot Podcast.”
“Because the reality is that [Swift] is below one like that a microscope,” he continued. “I think they wanted to make sure everything was done in a way that respected people’s privacy. And I think they’re still trying. And even now I want to respect them. And I don’t want anyone to feel like… I’m violating some kind of private relationship, right?’
Jason added: “It’s really not my place to speak about their relationship. But he is my brother and I am very happy for him.”
The retired NFL star also revealed that his daughter, Ellie, 3, has a big fan of Swift’s music.
“I’ve been listening to ‘I Can Do It With a Broken Heart’ a lot now and Ellie, there’s a line in there… ‘I’m a really tough kid/I can handle my st’ and… she says, ‘ I’m a really tough kid/I can handle my stuff,” Jason said. “That’s all I hear every day.”
Jason, who shares daughters Ellie, Wyatt, 4, and Bennett, 18 months, with his wife Kylie Kelcepreviously named that song as his “favorite” in a July edition of his podcast “New Heights,” which he co-hosts with Travis, 34. In June, Jason and Kylie watched Swift, 34, perform “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” at her Eras tour in London, where Travis appeared on stage as a surprise guest.
Last month, Jason and his sibling signed a nine-figure deal to move “New Heights” to Wondery. While Travis’ one-year relationship with Swift has put the brothers on the map in a bigger way, Jason recently credited the show’s success to the chemistry he and his brother share.
“I think on the podcast, first and foremost, you get an organic, loving relationship between two brothers. We are honest with each other. And it comes across,” Jason said during ESPN’s media day on August 28. “And we have good personalities that I think members of the public generally appreciate and want to watch and listen to, which I’m not sure I fully agree with. with that, but they are there.
Jason and Travis launched ‘New Heights’, which returned for its success third season on Wednesdaysin 2022. Since then, the brothers have found crossover success, with Jason landing a role as an analyst on ESPN’s Countdown on Monday evening and Travis Landing film And television roles.
“I think we’re naturally very open people, and I think we share things, and we obviously live exciting lives that people want to follow,” Jason said. “And then all those things help… because the more people watch, the more money advertisers spend.”
