A University of Arizona defensive assistant woke up Sunday with a splitting headache … because he headbutted a player wearing a helmet out of excitement — and sliced his forehead wide open.
Chuck Cecil — a senior defensive assistant with the Wildcats — was trying to hype up one of his guys before the game… by grabbing a cornerback Owen Gosshelmet and hit his head hard against the player’s.
Goss wore a helmet… but Cecil didn’t. After hitting the player’s head three times, he was visibly bleeding.

It seems he didn’t have time to wash up… because it was later and during the match, and Cecil was clearly still bleeding under the bill of his cap.
Unfortunately, it appears Cecil’s attempt to inspire the players hasn’t worked… as Arizona State University is currently crushing U of A — up 42-7 in the fourth quarter at time of publication.
The Wildcats came into today at 4-7… so they’re not going to a bowl game anyway – so this is really an injury in addition to an insult.
I can’t blame anyone for trying… but hopefully the medical staff will get him some ice and a bandage.
