Biden urged the US Defense Department to continue the wave of arms deliveries to Ukraine.
Washington:
President Joe Biden said on Wednesday he has asked the US Defense Department to continue the wave of arms deliveries to Ukraine after condemning Russia’s Christmas Day attack on some Ukrainian cities and its energy system.
“The purpose of this outrageous attack was to cut off the Ukrainian people’s access to heat and electricity during the winter and jeopardize the security of the power grid,” Biden said in a statement. Newly elected Republican President Donald Trump will replace Democrat Biden on January 20.
Russia attacked Ukraine’s energy system and some cities on Wednesday with cruise missiles, ballistic missiles and drones, Ukraine said. Since Russia’s massive invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Washington has pledged $175 billion in aid to Ukraine.
