A 27-year-old man who shot two of his Topgolf colleagues in December – killing one of them – has pleaded guilty to murder and attempted murder.
Victor Salazar-Guarache reached a plea agreement Thursday in Adams County District Court, court records show.
Salazar-Guarache pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder, court records show. The plea deal removed charges of first-degree murder, two charges of attempted first-degree murder and a sentence enhancer for violent crimes from his case.
The then 26-year-old Topgolf dishwasher was arrested in December after a midnight shooting in the parking lot of the Thornton Topgolf, 16011 Grant St., that left one man dead, police said.
Police said Salazar-Guarache got into an argument with one of his co-workers, clocked out early and waited in the parking lot for an hour to ambush him.
Bryce Holden, a 22-year-old Topgolf dishwasher, was shot multiple times and died from his injuries, police said. The kitchen manager who walked out with Holden was also shot.
As Holden and the manager left the building and entered the parking lot, Salazar-Guarache got out of his car and fired 12 shots at the couple, continuing to shoot even after Holden fell, according to his arrest affidavit.
A Lyft driver picking up another employee told officers he saw Salazar-Guarache get out of his vehicle and when he returned to his car after the shooting, Salazar-Guarache appeared to be laughing, the affidavit said.
According to court records, Salazar-Guarache is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 11 for a sentencing hearing.
