Welsh brand Goodwash has seen sales rise following its appearance in Gavin and Stacey's Christmas final

Barry-based social enterprise The Goodwash Company has experienced a remarkable 20% increase in online sales following its appearance in Gavin and Stacey’s highly anticipated Christmas special finale.

The company’s luxurious, cruelty-free hand wash was displayed in Pam and Mick West’s Billericay bathroom, marking a major milestone for the Welsh brand.

The cameo in one of Britain’s best-loved shows attracted national attention and sparked a wave of online sales and engagement. In just two days, TikTok views rose from an average of 2,000 to almost 100,000.

Mandy Powell, founder of The Goodwash Companyshared: “It was incredible for us to appear on Gavin and Stacey. It’s especially meaningful to me as a proud Barry resident and longtime fan of the show.

“The program brought a real sense of magic to Barry during filming. However, I didn’t know our products would be on the show. When I saw our ‘Sebon Dwylo’ behind Smithy in the bathroom, I let out a little scream of excitement!

“It was an honor to see our ethical Welsh luxury hand soap showcased in a show that is so loved by audiences worldwide. Seeing the enormous interest in our brand online is the icing on the cake.”

Since launching in 2018, The Goodwash Company has built a reputation for its sustainable, vegan and cruelty-free skincare products. The company invests profits back into Welsh communities and charities. The Business Wales Accelerated Growth Program (AGP) has supported the growth of the business and helped the brand scale sustainably.

The brand’s appearance in Gavin and Stacey has increased sales by 20% and increased visibility of the bilingual brand. Looking ahead, The Goodwash Company would like to benefit from this increasing interest. Mandy added:

“We are committed to celebrating Welsh culture, and the Welsh language is an integral part of our brand and is reflected in our packaging and messaging. The increased visibility and spike in sales has been phenomenal for us, and we are so proud to be putting ethical Welsh products on the map.

“We plan to expand our online marketing efforts, grow our presence on TikTok and explore exciting new partnerships. We are confident we can build on this momentum to reach even more customers worldwide.”
