Ridley Scott’s bloody drama, set in the heart of the Roman Empire, is considered one of the best takes on the ancient world. Although Gladiator plays fast and loose with historical facts, it offers a heartbreaking story, larger-than-life characters, and truly compelling spectacle (something Scott’s Napoleon film failed to achieve).
Almost twenty-five years after the film premiere, Scott takes the viewer back to the sand arenas of Rome. In Gladiator 2 we will not see Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix, the stars of the original film. But don’t worry: they have worthy successors.
Paul Mescal will play Lucius, the now-adult cousin of Emperor Commodus from the original Gladiator. He is joined by Pedro Pascal as General Marcus Acacius, Joseph Quinn as Emperor Geta, Fred Hechinger as Emperor Caracalla and Denzel Washington as Macrinus. Connie Nielsen will return as Lucius’ mother, Lucilla, while Derek Jacobi will once again play Senator Gracchus.

When can Gladiator 2 tickets go on sale?

The new Ridley Scott film will premiere in the UK on Friday, November 15, 2024. The highly anticipated film is already causing a lot of buzz, so tickets will likely be available for booking at least a month before opening day.
US
Gladiator 2 debuts in the US on Friday, November 22, 2024. It will be one of the biggest premieres this fall, but not the only one. The film will compete fiercely with Wicked, which will debut in theaters the same day.
According to Vanity Fair, it could create a situation similar to the Barbenheimer case, when the same release date for Barbie and Oppenheimer drives up the hype for both films.
Without fail, the makers of the Gladiator 2 want to gain as much advantage as possible over their rivals. So, tickets for Ridley Scott’s film will likely go on sale a few weeks before the film’s release.
