Samsung released a host of new products last year, but we’re expecting many more at the next Unpacked event, happening soon.
The brand’s biggest launches in 2024 included the flagship Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra phones, the foldable Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 and of course wearables like the Galaxy Watch 7, Galaxy Watch Ultra and Galaxy Ring.
However, the focus now is on Samsung’s first launch in 2025, where we expect the Galaxy S25 series.
Here’s everything we know about this event and what’s expected to be announced.
When does Samsung usually host events?
Samsung is known for its grand unveilings of new products, often during high-profile Galaxy Unpacked events. These usually take place a few times a year, with high-end phones, tablets and smartwatches usually on the agenda.
Historically, Samsung has followed a set schedule, with Unpacked events taking place at two key times of the year:
- January/February: Typically to unveil Galaxy S phones
- July/August: Typically to announce Galaxy Z foldable tablets, Galaxy Tab S tablets and Galaxy Watch smartwatches
However, the Galaxy Tab S10 series was unveiled in September 2024, and not at the beginning of the year like the Tab S8 series in 2022 or at the summer event like the Tab S9 in 2023, so this is not a set pattern.
When will the next Samsung event take place?
In an official blog post, Samsung has confirmed that the next Galaxy Unpacked event will take place January 22, 2025.
Watch the teaser video below.
What will Samsung announce at its next event?
Samsung has now confirmed the next Galaxy Unpacked event, teasing the announcements of as many as four new phones.
Galaxy S25 series
Samsung will launch its Galaxy S25 series in January 2025, with the standard Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus and the high-end Galaxy S25 Ultra.
These devices are powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and are expected to offer superior performance and improved power efficiency, a departure from the mixed chipsets used in the Galaxy S24 series.
The Ultra model is expected to feature upgraded ultra-wide-angle and telephoto camera sensors, while modest design tweaks and improvements to AI capabilities, particularly via Bixby assistant, are expected across the range.
Android Heads
A rounder body design and Qi2 wireless charging may also debut, bringing Samsung closer to Apple’s magnetic charging ecosystem.
Galaxy S25 Slim
Samsung may also introduce the Galaxy S25 Slim, a remarkably thin version of its flagship, possibly matching the 200Mp main camera of the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Rumors suggest that this device could be launched alongside the S25 series or at a separate event later in 2025.
Galaxy Z Flip FE
Rumors about cheaper foldable Samsung devices have been doing the rounds for a while. Last year, there was speculation about a Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE, which was expected to launch alongside Samsung’s foldable flagship devices and possibly arrive in 2024 or at the 2025 Unpacked event.
But rumors of a cheaper Galaxy Z Fold have subsided and attention has shifted to another budget-friendly option. Reports suggest that Samsung may be working on a Galaxy Z Flip FE, aimed at offering a cheaper alternative to its flagship foldable flip phone.

Specific details about the Galaxy Z Flip FE are scarce, but it’s rumored to debut in 2025, likely later in the year instead of during January’s Unpacked event. Despite the lack of concrete information, the possibility of this new model remains an intriguing prospect.
One user interface 7
One certainty for the Unpacked 2025 event is the debut of Samsung’s One UI 7 interface, which will launch alongside the Galaxy S25 series. This long-awaited software update is built on Android 15 and is expected to be presented, especially if it introduces important new features.
A beta version of One UI 7 was released in December, accessible to Galaxy S24 users. The beta includes advanced authoring tools, an expansion of features introduced last January with Galaxy AI, as well as support for multi-language call transcriptions and enhanced security upgrades.

Additionally, the lock screen has been revamped with the addition of the ‘Now bar’ feature, which offers live updates reminiscent of Apple’s Dynamic Island. These updates indicate a more refined and feature-rich interface for Samsung’s upcoming devices.
Milky Way ring 2
Samsung’s first smart ring was released in July 2024, making a sequel seem unlikely for now. However, rumors suggest that the Galaxy Ring 2 could arrive sooner than initially expected.
Samsung introduced the first Galaxy Ring at its Unpacked 2024 event, so there’s a chance the company will use the upcoming Unpacked 2025 to preview an update, especially if it ties in with new health tracking features.

Speculation about the Galaxy Ring 2 points to a sleeker design, improved battery life, and yet-unknown capabilities, which could make it an intriguing addition to Samsung’s lineup when it debuts.
Galaxy XR headset and more
At Unpacked 2023, Qualcomm, Google and Samsung announced a partnership to develop a mixed-reality platform, which refers to headset-like hardware. Although original plans targeted a 2024 release, the launch was postponed to 2025.
As 2025 approaches, Samsung’s mixed-reality ambitions are taking shape following Google’s unveiling of the Android XR platform, designed to support new headsets and smart glasses.
Samsung has confirmed that the upcoming headset, codenamed Project Moohan, will be the first device to run Android XR and will launch this year, suggesting it could be previewed on Galaxy Unpacked.
That’s all we expect to see at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. It will certainly make for some great flagship devices.
