The 2024/25 Serie A season is in full swing as the usual giants look to challenge for the title, while other clubs hope they can achieve what Bologna did last season and surprisingly qualify for the Champions League. Inter and Napoli look like the favorites on paper to win the competition, but teams like Atalanta, Lazio and Fiorentina will be hoping to spoil the party in what is proving to be another exciting campaign.
Game of the week: The Derby della Capitale
On Sunday, AS Roma will host Lazio for one of the most highly anticipated matches of the season, with the Derby della Capitale taking place in Rome. For the first time in six years, the game will be played at night, after security concerns forced police to ask for the game to be played during the day in recent years. Claudio Ranieri’s side are coming off an away match at San Siro against AC Milan, which led to the home side sacking their manager Paulo Fonseca and hiring Sergio Conceicao. Lazio, on the other hand, is fourth, six points behind Atalanta and Napoli.

Fiorentina hosts Napoli
On Saturday, Antonio Conte’s Napoli visit Fiorentina in Florence for what could be one of the best games of the weekend in Europe given the way these two sides have played in their first half of the season. Napoli currently top the table, but with Atalanta not playing this week, they have the chance to become sole leaders of the league, while Fiorentina have the chance to close the gap to the top of the table.
