Simone Biles was not present for husband, Jonathan Owens‘, competition in Houston, Texas Sunday night football for a very good reason.

Biles, 27, revealed via Instagram on Sunday, September 15, that while Owens, 29, and his Chicago Bears teammates faced the Houston Texans in the Lone Star State, the gymnast got to work. Gold over America tour in Oceanside, California.

The nationwide tour, which brings together the best gymnasts in the world to meet and inspire a new generation of gymnasts across the country, kicked off on Sunday.

Biles, the most decorated Olympic gymnast of all time, shared her enthusiasm for the tour Instagram after.

“LET @goldoveramericatour BEGIN 🐐🤍,” Biles captioned a photo of herself standing on a stage as the tour’s logo was projected on a screen behind it. “So grateful and blessed to have these opportunities! I can’t wait to see you all🎉✨🫶🏾 Which city are you all coming to see!?!?!”

Biles and fellow gymnasts included Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, Hezly Riveraas well as several male athletes, will present a series of choreographed performances across 30 arenas over two months. The tour ends on November 3 in Detroit.

Biles’ no-show was even more significant considering the Texans’ home base in Houston is just 40 minutes away from the athlete’s hometown of Spring, Texas. She was even the Texans’ first honorary cheerleader at the start of the 2017 season.

Biles, who last month received 11 medals at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, has passionately supported Owens as the NFL season gets into action. During Round 1, in which Owens made his Bears debut against the Tennessee Titans and scored his first touchdown of the season, Biles shared a tribute to her husband via her Instagram Story.

Biles reshared a video of Owens scoring a touchdown on September 8, writing: “LFG!!! @jowens. Touchdown for Hubby.

Before the Bears’ first game, Biles stood by her husband’s side during a preseason game. She also cheered on her husband when the Bears, who signed Owens to a two-year deal after he played for the Green Bay Packers in 2023, played the Cincinnati Bengals in a preseason game in August.

The couple dated for two years before tying the knot in April 2023.

Biles and Owens’ public solidarity comes after Biles took home three gold medals and one silver medal as part of her historic Olympic performance.

Owens attended the Paris Games after being granted a special leave of absence from the Bears’ preseason training.

During Owens’ visit to Paris, he wore one of his wife’s gold medals and posted a photo of the moment via Instagram on July 30. “Every time you step on the mat you witness history 😍🔥 Congratulations baby on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history!!!! Just wow!!!! 8 of them!!!!! So grateful I was there to see it ❤️🤍💙,” he captioned the photo.

While the moment drew a comment from Biles that read, “All my heart. I love you,” some fans did not take kindly to Owens’ post, sharing their disapproval across various social media platforms.

Biles was quick to shut down the negativity and call out haters in the comments section of the post. “The crazy thing is that I put my medal on all my family members and took pictures. so never make assumptions. 🙄,” she wrote at the time. “Like you’re all so miserable. leave us alone.”
