Xiaomi has just announced the Redmi Pad 2, and it will be a candidate for the title of the best budget tablet you can buy, whereby the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 is defeated.
The new tablet is lined by an 11-inch LCD with a sharp 2.5k (2560 x 1600) resolution and a refresh rate of 90Hz. It gets a maximum of 600 Nits brightness outdoors, which is not bad at all for a cheap tablet. It is closely related to the Galaxy Tab A9+ and, to a certain extent, the latest regular iPad.
After a number of impressively good value Android tablets from the Chinese company, the Redmi Pad 2 arrives this month, starting at only £ 169.
Impressive specifications for a budget tablet
The Redmi Pad 2 is powered by a MediaTek Helio G100-UTrra Processor, supported by a somewhat disturbing spread of RAM options: 4 or 8 GB here in the UK. There can be quite a difference in the daily experience between these two extremes, so we have to keep an eye on them.
There is also a choice of 128 or 256 GB of internal storage, while getting a fairly large 9000 mAh battery, regardless of the model. Many of these details have recently been leaked, including the recording of Dolby Atmos-driven speakers.

Do we even care about cameras in a cheap tablet? Probably not, except for video calls. Nevertheless, in the name of all details you will receive an 8MP F/2.0 camera and a 5MP f/2.2 camera at the rear with the Redmi Pad 2.
There are also three optional accessories, including the Redmi Smart Pen Stylus (with 4096 printing levels and a 240Hz touch sampling speed), the Redmi Pad 2 -Dekhoes and the Redmi Pad 2 screen protector.

This screen is housed in a full metal unibody design that is 7.36 mm thick, with a weight of 510 g.
It comes in graphite gray, mint green and a new lavender purple color, as you can see here.
How many?
As always, a large part of the attraction with such a Xiaomi device may be on your opinion about the adapted user interface. In this case this means that Xiaomi Hyperos 2, with such Xiaomi-Smartphone-Mirroring connectivity functions such as Call Sync, Network Sync and Shared Clemboard.
In terms of prices, the Redmi Pad 2 starts from just £ 169 for the model with 4 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. Even at this early point we probably recommend upgrading to the 8GB/256 GB model, which still only costs £ 219.
You can add 4G LTE connectivity for £ 219 and £ 259 respectively, which is a rare option for cheap tablets.
The Redmi Pad 2 is on sale June 13 In the United Kingdom and throughout Europe, and if you order in advance at the MI store, you can pay a down payment of £ 1 and save £ 40 on the full price, plus a free coverage, Redmi Buds 6 and 22.5 W Power Adapter of a total of £ 75.

All in all it sounds like much, considering how much we rated the Xiaomi Redmi Pad SE in 2023-and in many ways it is like a reduced and cheaper Xiaomi Pad 7.
If it can negotiate some of our small worries about the RAM allocation and the user interface of Xiaomi, this may turn out to be the best budget tablet of the year.
